He says whatever he things people want to hear, but this time around we don't want to hear comforting phrases that assuage our fears; we want to hear honesty. Honesty won't tell us what we want to hear; honesty will say things are going to be hard, but it won't lie to us. We've been lied to for eight years; now we want the truth.
